The typical habitats in Transylvania are the grasslands and wet meadows, manually mowed, with blue grass and jelly. The eggs are laid on the still unopened flowers of these plants. Larvae descend to the ground where they attract the ants of the genus Myrmica. After the ritual of adoption, the larva is transported to the swarm, where it feeds on eggs or larvae of ants. The populations of silver blue are extremely faithful to the place, the maximum flight distance being only 300m. High density areas: an extremely strong population was identified near Jibert; also, the species has been identified around the towns of Cloașterf, Criș, Roadeș și Angofa.
